STB Issues Cultural Resources ID Report Addendum

Monday, October 15, 2018

The Surface Transportation Board (STB) Office of Environmental Analysis (OEA)issued an Addendum to its Cultural Resources Identification (CRID) Report on the Harsimus Branch. The Addendum accepts the New Jersey State Historic Preservation Office's Opinion that the entire Harsimus Branch, not just the Embankment, is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. And it launches a third phase of the Board's National Historic Preservation Act Section 106 review. During this phase, the STB OEA is soliciting comments on the effects, direct or indirect, that abandonment of the railroad may have on historic resources within an area of potential effect. The Addendum may be downloaded from the agency's web site.
