The influence of Ted Conrad and the Citizens Committee of Hudson County has reached every genre of architecture, including abandoned rail trestles. The 1902 Pennsylvania Railroad Harsimus Stem Embankment -- also known as the "Sixth Street Embankment -- has been under threat since the 1990s. In 1998 the Embankment Preservation Coalition was organized to help preserve the James J. Ferris-designed stone edifice. Through dedicated, passionate efforts, the EPC, working in the same preservation spirit as Conrad and the CCHC, was able to obtain listing on the State Register of Historic Places.
